Nintendo 3DS

The 3DS family is more fragmented than any other Nintendo platform: six hardware variants in seven years — 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, New 3DS XL, New 2DS XL. The "New 3DS" (2014) was a quiet upgrade with a faster CPU, analogue C-stick and NFC: some games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D ran exclusively on it. The eShop closed purchases in March 2023, making hundreds of digital titles permanently unavailable. Fire Emblem Fates: Special Edition (three cartridges plus an artbook) is already legendary sealed — extremely limited PAL production. Majora's Mask 3D in its New 3DS bundle edition is probably the single most desired piece of the entire platform.
