The original DS "phat" (2004) had a design Nintendo themselves described as transitional — and it showed. The DS Lite (2006) corrected the form factor, weight and screen brightness, becoming the reference model. But the original DS has a full-size GBA slot, not the half-slot of the Lite: relevant for the Rumble Pak, the Guitar Hero controller and a handful of slot-2 accessories. The DSi (2008) dropped the GBA slot, added cameras and DSiWare — a small library of downloadable games now permanently unavailable. Niche DS titles (Glory of Heracles, The World Ends With You first print, Fragile Dreams) reach high prices in CIB PAL. Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver included the Pokéwalker pedometer: complete boxes with the sealed device are worth nearly double.
