The PS2 is the best-selling console ever made — 155 million units — and paradoxically one of the hardest to collect for deliberately, precisely because the library is so vast. The most important hardware distinction: FAT models around the SCPH-30004 included actual PS1 silicon (the IOP chip) for true backwards compatibility; Slim models used software emulation with variable results. The FAT's HDD Bay accepted standard IDE hard drives for Final Fantasy XI and a handful of other applications. PAL titles to hunt: Kuon, Haunting Ground, Rule of Rose, Ico (first print with lenticular cover), Shadow of the Colossus. The PS2 was also the only console to receive an official online expansion via Network Adaptor — used by SOCOM, Twisted Metal and others.
