The original Xbox was enormous for good reason: its motherboard housed a 733MHz Pentium III, 64MB RAM, an 8 or 10GB hard drive and a DVD drive — a PC in console clothing, by design. The original "Duke" controller was replaced almost immediately by the Japanese Controller S (smaller and better proportioned) after widespread negative feedback in the West. Steel Battalion, the mech simulator with its 40-button controller sold at €200, is one of the most extreme peripherals ever shipped by a major publisher. In Europe, some titles launched only in specific countries or in very limited quantities: Phantom Dust, Jade Empire and Stubbs the Zombie all have active collector markets. The internal HDD can be upgraded to larger drives via specific procedures — the XBOX-HQ community maintains updated guides.
